Heading to the Island Podcast

Woo hoo. The week is here. Time to head north to my favorite place in the world. Mackinac Island. I am gonna share some tips and ideas for day visits and weekend visits. One thing you will want to do is buy tickets ahead of time for your ferry. If doing a day visit either ferry is fantastic. So it is more of a personal choice. Online you can get discount and group rates. When you arrive you still have to go to the window to get your actual ticket and bike pass.

Some items I recommend for day trips are the following:

  • Sunscreen
  • Umbrella/poncho
  • comfy shoes- tennis shoes preferred
  • light jacket
  • basket for bike
  • extra socks if raining
  • bug spray
  • backpack

For overnight weekend stays I know that it can be a gamble with weather. That can be said for anywhere. So if you think oh don’t pack it I suggest doing it. Never a bad idea to be safe. Now if you forget you can get all these items shopping in downtown.

  • hats/ gloves
  • sweatshirts (hoodies with front pouch)
  • bike lock
  • extra phone chargers to carry with you
  • cooler with water/ snacks
  • all items above
