Like so many- 2020 was a rough one. Thinking that going to Mackinac was not gonna happen I decided in late August to look at a weekend in October to go. Ordinarily the chance of an opening on a weekend like that wouldn’t happen- but Covid had done that. So I found a great deal at a place I have seen for years- the Pontiac Lodge.

Located on Hoban Street (the lobby to check in and stairs to go up) This charming little boutique style hotel has 11 rooms. The number on the doors start at 20-31. Each room is different. I was in room 22. When you go up the stairs and head to the room your view can vary. Mine overlooked Main St. The website does a good job describing each room. My room had the following:
- Wet bar
- Mini fridge
- Microwave
- 2 queen beds
- Private bath
- Coffee pot
- Main St view
- 4 people occupancy

It was very spacious. I had enough room to unpack my ridiculous suitcase. Which honestly I wore almost everything I packed (it was chillier so bulkier items) We were directly across from Shepler’s Ferry ⛴ too. You do have to take a flight of stairs up to rooms. No elevator. I loved again being right downtown!! Even with Covid and all the restrictions I felt very safe and all was super clean.

Folks this is the only hotel open year round. It is a bonus having the fridge and microwave too because if you are there in the winter only 1 to 2 restaurants are open. I was so glad I stayed here. Did I mention the price? So reasonable. Now I know it was off season but even pricing for full season was extremely well priced. I highly encourage you to check out this little gem. http://www.pontiaclodge.com

On their website they also have links to stay at downtown Harbor suites and the penthouse suite. These are along the waterfront and look very nice. That is another option to consider too.
