Mission point Resort

So I am going to share the places I have personally stayed at on the island. With these experiences hopefully it can help you know where you might want to stay as well. I also try to stay somewhere new each visit.

Ok so I’m starting with Mission Point Resort. This was the first hotel experience I had on the island although not for staying but my friends wedding. There is a gazebo on their front lawn the hosts quite a few of these throughout the season. Along with Adirondack chairs spread throughout for you to sit and enjoy the view. A small path is located right along the waters edge so you can walk/ bike on it to almost taste the breeze.

So let me tell you that this resort at one point was a college. Yes crazy right? Here is a link to an interesting article on the full history of how it came to be.

Mission point is recently under new ownership. Since the purchase they have renovated all 239 rooms along with adding a tented promenade deck. It host 4 restaurants (kids 12 and under eat free) they are Chianti, Bistro on the Greens, Round Island Kitchen and Boxwood coffee shop and Cafe. All located at the 18 acre resort.

They host a miniature golf course that in evenings there is a glow in the dark option. This is located next to the Bistros on the Green so if you have kids you can sit and relax as they play and you eat and drink. The menu is Mediterranean inspired to match the crystal blue waters in the background.

When you venture to the front of Mission Point the one thing you notice is the beautiful floral arrangements. You will walk up a hill to the main lobby that reminds mr of a ski lodge. Beautiful wooden interior with fireplaces located throughout and seating to sit and enjoy the warmth. To the left is Chianti restaurant that has a great farm to ferry menu (kids free menu not included here) Sadly at this time it is not open due to staff shortage But things could change.

Now we were not in the main lodge for our stay. Our room was in one of the other buildings. The pool is right outside the lobby and you head up stairs to where the hotel has bikes to rent and an arcade. There is a winding path you will take to the different buildings. Ours was the last one.

The one thing that is great about this resort is how kid friendly they are. I had my niece and nephew. At night they left cookies and milk along with a moose stuffed animal. Lots of daily kid activities. And it’s away from downtown so they have a ton of space to run and left off energy. You also are close to Arch Rock ( a historic site on the island)

What drew me into to booking here was the great package deals they offer. They have family, adventure, breakfast and special events. These deals you can’t pass up. It has so many great amenities in it. They are also dog friendly- yes please!!!

Now when we were there it had not been updated but I still loved it. They offered a mini fridge and microwave which was so convenient. The website shows the new remodeled rooms and they are fantastic. Very nautical feeling. I never felt cramped in the room and there were 4 of us.

Mission Point also has a theatre that the movie Somewhere in Time has scenes filmed in it. In fact a seat is dedicated to Christopher Reeve. It was where he sat for a the infamous part of the movie ( you have to watch to see)

We had a complimentary breakfast buffet with our package and let me tell you – you were full after that. Great food and choices. Perfect way to start the day before you venture out.

While we weren’t downtown and by no means is this halfway across the island- there is a different feeling here. Most of the time people who are around are staying there so it’s not too overwhelming. And you can do so much just at this spot.

I am excited to stay here again in the future with all the remodeling that has happened. It is a great hotel and fun for all.
